Melissa is a very special bride in the Wish family of events—because she is family, literally! After a decade of shared Thanksgivings, Christmases, and other holidays, we were thrilled to design florals to help Melissa and Jeff celebrate their marriage.
Uncle Uly, our lead carpenter, is the Father of the Bride. When he built this wedding, he honored his daughter not only with his talent, time, and heart, but by using many of the custom Wish inventory items he has created over the years.
From the beginning, we knew the look would be romantic, lush, and glamorous. We also knew the event would include all our favorite elements from the Wish inventory. Working side-by-side with volunteers from the family, the entire Wish team poured our love into creating a magical garden inside the Westin SFO.
The magic began with a welcome sign, placed to greet and direct guests at Valet, inspired by a Harry Winston display at the famed Crystals Shops in Las Vegas. Upon entering the hotel, guests were greeted by a cocktail space transformed with ethereal cherry blossom tree props. A hand-calligraphed escort sign gave us another opportunity to add lush florals to the area.
To enter the reception, guests passed through vintage doors adorned with a mix of classic hydrangea and secret garden, playa blanca, and locally grown bombastic spray roses. A variety of centerpieces enlivened each table, and a draping floral on the cake table highlighted a marbled fondant confection from Kathleen at A Spoonful of Sugar.
The newlyweds sat beneath the centerpiece of this entire look: Uncle Uly’s spectacular arbor. A gold-and-crystal chandelier accented with airy smilax vines rose above handmade planter boxes that overflowed with florals. The arbor itself was wrapped in a waterfall of glowing Edison lights, thanks to our lighting and draping partner JL Imagination. A picture with the bride and groom under the arbor quickly became guests’ favorite photo op of the night.
A personal note from Heather:
“One of the things I enjoyed the most about this event was looking forward to a big family wedding. I love the chatter that precedes the big event: which sisters, brothers, and cousins will be in the bridal party; seeing nieces and nephews as flower girls and ring bearers; discussing what everyone is going to wear; getting ready to dance the night away with the entire family dressed to the nines. Everyone was excited for Jeff and Melissa’s wedding, and I couldn’t wait to share a Wish event experience with my family.
I also love that I got to give back to the people who have supported Wish along the way. Melissa and Jeff have helped set up and break down at several Wish events, and Uncle Uly has been a part of SO many experiences, not to mention building our inventory. It was a joy to represent Wish as we helped this proud father guide his daughter into the next chapter of her life.”
